The standard disposition of a Motor Transport Company in the Great War in terms of vehicles was as follows: 2 motor cars, 2 motor cycles, 7 3ton lorries, 4 30cwt lorries, 1 workshop lorry and 1 store lorry. At its inception in September 1916 the 801st had 7 Lorries (weight not specified), 1 5ton lorry, 1 workshop lorry, two light cars and two motor cycles.The lorry makes referenced in the 801st MT Coy war diary are: Peerless, Napier, Thornycroft, Daimler, Karrier and FWD. Sunbeam cars are recorded along with Triumph and Douglas motorcycles.
