Bulgarian Prisoners of War working in Salonika

In February 1919 demobilisation began, Major Holland and Corporal Astill (probably Astle) were the first to go, proceeding to the Base Motor Transport Depot to await passage to the U.K. Lieutenant Parr took over command of the company from Major Holland and by the end of the month 9 other ranks had moved to the concentration camp to await passage to the U.K. Oddly 7 other ranks joined the company from the base depot.

Five more other ranks were demobilised in March and 2nd Lieutenant Allen joined the company from the 43rd General Hospital. Into April and Lieutenant Hunt joined the company from the Base Depot and took over command from Lieutenant Parr. The company were supplying the Prisoner of War camp at Gugunci when there was an outbreak of small pox, this resulted in 2 men being admitted to Hospital and put in isolation.

Even at this late stage the company were taking on men, 8 N.C.Os and 10 men reported for duty from the Base Depot along with 5 Maltese personnel. On the 26th April 7 lorries were moved to the Base depot Salonika for disbandment, two days later 5 N.C.Os and 19 men were posted to the Base Depot.
