December 1916 to April 1917

On the 28th November 1916 the Company left the base depot and camped at Kilo 58.5 about 7 kilometres past Lahana on the Seres road. The Seres road was the main supply route from Salonika to the front line in the Struma valley about 72 kilometres distance, kilometre posts were used as reference points. The map on the Left shows the Seres road running diagonally from Salonika in the bottom left corner to the Struma valley in the top right.

As soon as the camp was set up the seven lorries (numbers 3641 to 3647) were out on the road running single loads or in convoys of up to 5 vehicles. The loads were a mix of stores, rations, road stone, tents, wood and nails. Most runs were from the A.S.C. dump at Likovan or from the railhead at Guvesne to locations along the road where units were camped such as K61.5 where 29th Brigade and the 32nd Field Ambulance were camped, or to an advance dump at K72 on the western side of the Struma valley.

Heavy snow and rain in February kept the vehicles off the road for days at a time, but in March the convoys were back out again moving stores and rations and unusually ordnance from K44 to K64. In April winter clothing was collected and sun helmets distributed despite snow still falling and stores were taken to the 143 A.T. Coy R.E. at K62 and at K58. The Assistant Quarter Master General was informed that the company was ready to take over repairs of corps cars.
